Happy Chinese New Year: The Year of the Tiger

tiger
Happy New Year all you Dads, Moms, men, women, boys, girls, mutants, aliens and monsters! Kung Hei fat Choi to everyone!

It’s a new year and a new time for many. According to the Chinese Zodiac it’s the year of the Tiger, particularly Year of the Metal Tiger.

The Tiger is one of the coolest animal signs in Chinese astrology. I’m biased because I was born in the year of the Tiger (green, wood tiger).

So what’s in store for us in this New Year of the Metal Tiger? According to the Chinese zodiac, the Tiger is said to be lucky vivid, lively and engaging. Another attribute of the Tiger is incredible bravery, evidenced in his/her willingness to engage in battle utilizing his/her undying courage. The Chinese believe that having a Tiger in the house is the very best protection against the evils of fire, and burglary. Tigers are tough.

It is said that people born in the Year of the Tiger have the following qualities and characteristics: Courage, Vehemence, Self-Reliance, Friendliness, Hopefulness, Resilience, Vanity, Disregard

As this is the year of the Metal Tiger, Chinese astrologers say that the Metal element gives the Tiger its sharpness/quickness in action and speed of thought. Tigers born in the Metal year like to stand out in a crowd. With an inspiring assertiveness and competitive demeanor, Tigers determine their goals and then do anything necessary to achieve them. They are cunning and determined.

The Tiger:

The Tiger sometimes suffers from mood swings and temper tantrums. The Tiger can be known to jump to conclusions or to act too quickly without weighing the options or understanding the consequences. This is a flaw Tigers must learn to curb and will struggle with their whole life.

If you are born in the Year of the Tiger, you are sensitive, a deep thinker, and capable of great sympathy. You can be extremely short-tempered, however. Other people have great respect for the Tiger, but sometimes Tiger people come into conflict with older people or those in authority. Tigers are most compatible with Horses, Dragons, and Dogs.

2010:
It appears that the Year of the Tiger is a year for goals and achievements because of the assertive characteristic of the Tiger. However, as described above, don’t act too fast in terms of your decision making because you might fall into a trap. Control your emotions and your temper and think twice before you make “that important decision”.

Kung Hei fat Choi to everyone! We hope that the upcoming Year of the Tiger would be much better than the previous Year of the Ox! Goodbye 2009 as you were rough on many of us and Hello 2010! Happy Chinese New Year to all!
